"Dinner
that night was in our "mess" tent to the drumming
of the rain; it was one of the times James served us across
an acre of wet and blowy darkness without cooling a plate
or changing expression".
"Each
camp was different - its view, the disposition of the tents
- we became fond of each home in turn."

"I can't tell you how much I miss my lovely tent, the
bigness of the Sky, the glorious freedom of every day."

"Such a wonderful glimpse into
a vanishing world."
"I do not want to leave this warm, exceptional experience."

Each safari
is a true expedition. Everything in your camp, from the
duvets on your beds to the tent pegs, has been packed by
our safari crew and taken to the bush just for you. Our
tents are designed by us and custom built to our specifications.
The personal touch continues in your camp.
Lara plans all the menus and buys the provisions for your
safari – be it a special wine or the jam your little
one can’t live without. We will do our best to source
it for your safari.
The custom-made tents are light and spacious.
The tents are large and insect-proof, each with a veranda
in front and ensuite dressing area and bathroom at the back.
The interiors have been carefully furnished with your comfort
in mind; you will find comfortable beds with crisp bed linen,
warm duvets and a welcome array of soft furnishings. Solar-powered
reading lights are provided. Hot water is available at any
time for a traditional safari shower. Meals are ingeniously
cooked over an open fire or bed of embers. While camp moves
we will take you to a carefully selected
small luxury lodge for a night or two, this is a great
chance to recharge before you rejoin camp and new adventures.
Our safari crew is made up of experienced
hands; many have worked in the safari business all their
lives and are an extension of the Lowis family. They will
be with you all the way pitching your camps, preparing your
meals, pressing your laundry - and moving camp while you
spend a couple of nights in a private lodge or bush home
en route. They are a hard-working, cheerful, friendly team.
Everyone involved—the headman, cook, waiters, tent
men, game spotters—has his own unique role. Meals
are ingeniuosly cooked over an open bed of embers.Have a

An important part of your safari is the
vehicles. Ninian, like
all of our guides, owns his own vehicle, assuring the best
care and maintenance. Each vehicle takes a maximum of four
guests and is well equipped with all the essentials required
for a comfortable safari. Roof hatches and roof cushions,
supplies, fridges and spare parts all come as standard in
our safari vehicles. On a safari with two or more cars each
car becomes a free entity – allowing an important
element of flexibility and increasing your chances of seeing
game. With the aid of radio contact, it’s easy to
share exciting finds with other members of your group.
The cars are custom built to ensure comfort
and maximum opportunities for game viewing, with three large
roof hatches ensuring varied vantage points to watch and
photograph wildlife.
The safari crew and the equipment travel
in an eight-ton lorry. The trucks are fitted with water
and fuel tanks that allow access to the most remote areas.
Our staff is highly trained and versatile and able to cope
with most situations that Mother Nature throws in their
path.
To spend most of your time in Africa
in the bush instead of on the road, we frequently suggest
flying between game areas. An inspiring itinerary is fundamental
to the greatest safaris. For further inspiration have a

list.
